Do You Feel Change Happening?
Obviously, with the U.S. elections in front of us, there is a great feeling of change in our political environment. As a nation, we are getting ready for some adjustments and also waiting to see how this country faces the rest of the world.

But, do you also feel change coming in your own life? Do you feel like maybe there is a move, a change of jobs, schools, or relationship status? It could be lots of things, but this feeling of change seems be affecting many people both on a micro and macro level.

Out of nowhere, I had three consecutive conversations this week about the feelings of change. First, it was a mom of two young boys in my 'Parent and Me' yoga class who is debating about going back to work full-time as a lawyer. Yes, that would create lots of change in their household. Then, it was with a fellow teacher, saying that her class structure has completely changed direction over the past few weeks, forcing her to re-think about how and where she holds her classes, after many years of being in the same spot. Weird. Then, I spoke to a fellow business owner who has decided to make a change to sell her business and start writing a novel. That too is a big life change. Strange.

So, what about you and if so, what do we do about it? How do we embrace this change?

Recently, a friend enlightened me with an interesting technique to facing life change and the decision-making process associated with it. She said to look at our top three strongest values, and then align our actions with these values. Perhaps these values are spending more time with our family, or maybe it's to feel more financially stable, or maybe it's to take time to calm our bodies down. Whatever it may be, we first need to go inside and think about what is most important to us, and what are our priorities. Then, what actions can we take to make those priorities happen? It's sometimes not an easy decision, but looking at our values or life goals, we can more easily see what the easiest path may be to get there.

As you reflect over the next few weeks about this change, here is a link to a song that I often play in yoga class that I thought was appropriate for the state of our nation and of our lives...John Mayer's "Waiting for the World To Change", http://www.myspace.com/yogatohavefun
